A Shot of Faith (to the Head) by Mitch Stokes

“A Shot of Faith (to the Head): Be a Confident Believer in an Age of Cranky Atheists" by Mitch Stokes is a pretty good book. Oh! Before I forget! Let me explain: I got this book for free from the Thomas Nelson Publishing Company through the booksneeze bloggers programme in exchange for an honest review. I am under no obligation to give this book an positive review, so everything you see here is completely my own opinion. So. That being said, moving on. Anyway, I got this book because the tag line, “Be a Confident Believer in an Age of Cranky Atheists,” made me giggle. I had never heard of the word ‘cranky’ being included in a non-fiction book title. It caught my attention. In addition, I love apologetics, so I figured that I would like this book.

And I ordered, read it, and realized that I did like this book. If you enjoy defending your faith, then you will most likely love “A Shot of Faith (to the Head).” It makes you think. I enjoy it. I give it four out of five stars, simply because it does have an obnoxious title: most atheists don’t enjoy being called cranky. It makes them… cranky.

Moments of Truth by John MacArthur

Hey everyone! I’ve heard of John MacArthur a few times before, but this was actually my first read of his. I have to say, it was good. It was all pretty basic stuff, I’m not going to lie, but they were all truths none the less, melted down into day by day devotionals. If you do one per day, the book will last you an entire year. The book is very Biblically sound, and John MacArthur backs pretty much everything he says up against the Bible, which is something I admire. It’s a good read, and I probably will be passing it on to a family member. I enjoyed it, and would probably recommend it most to someone who is just beginning their walk with God- it gives basic truths, what we believe, stuff like that. It also asks questions that all Christians should be asking themselves for introspection. I liked it and I give it four out of five stars.

Just so that there is no confusion, I received this book for free from the publisher through the Thomas Nelson booksneeze blogger program in exchange for a completely honest review. I was not required to give this book a good review and everything that I’ve said is completely my own opinion.
